Your Opinion, Does It Matter?

Everybody has one.  I’m talking about an opinion, not a belly button.  Well everyone has one of those, but no one usually judges it unless you are totally worthless and really feel so bad about yourself that you have to put people down for something they have absolutely no control over.

Change is one of the most hated events on the planet.  If you or someone else purposes (or the boss forces) a change to the way things are currently done, then your enemies abound.

Why is that?  Maybe if we would step back and look to see if giving new way a chance would work, we just might be surprised.  No, we must bad mouthing the change and living in the past which is obviously where the future lies.  Give no chance for a better way to come along and make anything better.  We must live in the everyday senseless “same ole story, same ole song and dance” because we are afraid to admit that someone else’s way might be better.

I’m done with them and I will miss them.  Does your opinion matter?  Yes, but not the everyone.  Be ready for it.

Christmas is Coming

But first Thanksgiving!

A time to give thanks for everything God has done for us.  I know.  According to the TV shows it is a time to give thanks for what others have done for us.  Everyone except the creator of all things.

Sure is is great to be grateful to those we have in our life and tell them often.  But to ignore God and what He has done for us and our nation is just wrong.  He gave of Himself so that we might be able to live with Him for eternity if we chose to do so.  Not choosing Him is stupid to me.

So, first off I am thankful to God for making a way for my sinful self to be forgiven.  I will never be able to repay what He has done for me.

“Thank you” to my wife for putting up with me since 1980.  You are and always will be the love of my life. To my kids for growing up to be better than me, which is just what every parent really wants; thanks for making me proud. To the spouses of my kids, thank you for choosing my kids to make a life with and sharing your family.  To my grandkids (all of them) thanks for the smiles and playing with me.

I am very thankful to the military personnel who have given of themselves to protect us and our freedom.

I have a good job and yes I am thankful for it.

Politics

First off, I hate politics.

I once heard that politics is from two Greek words: Poli meaning many and Tics meaning blood sucking creature.  And that is what a “Politician” is.  Our form of government was never meant to be a full-time job for anyone.   Anyone who wants to go to DC to make a difference is ridiculed, lied about, shamed and never given a chance.    Those who just want to do their part and serve the people of this nation don’t stand a chance against those who are in it for themselves and make it a life time of “let see what you can do for me”.

No one deserves a career in politics, but everyone deserves a chance to serve and go home.  If would do our job and cycle politicians, our nation would not be in the trouble we are and have the debt we allowed to accumulate by people who cannot get a job anywhere else.

Democrat, Republican, Liberal or Independent, get in, do you job and get out.

Let’s Get Started – Who I Am

Let’s start with the obvious.  One Eye, the name chosen by me when I joined FCF.  FCF is the Frontiers Camping Fellowship which is a group of men and boys who have shown exceptional camping skills in the Royal Rangers.  Royal Rangers is a mentoring program to boys which started with the Assemblies of God in 1962 when older boys were not being retained in the church.  FCF grew out of it as a natural progression for adventure, achievement and fun.  The goal is to keep alive the spirit of the fur trade era where men lived off the land and provided for themselves.  We are NOT conspiracy “theorists“, but some of the same skills are learned.  Oh, I am blind in my right eye, thus the name.  Not very politically correct!

More importantly, I am a husband, father, grandfather and foster grandfather.  If you want to know what love is, just watch kids when they give you a hug and squeeze your neck for all they are worth, or you hear the granddaughter call you Grand Pop for the first time.  You will melt.

I have worked at my current job since 1987 and still enjoy the challenge.

Everything else is, well, just stuff you will have to learn as we go.  Hang in there, this could be a wild ride.
